I recently handed over another commissioned painting. And I must admit that some paintings are very hard to part with.
From the first brushstroke, I knew this one would be special. I chose earthy tones – shades of brown, beige and black, with subtle accents of orange. To me, these colours feel calm, elegant and timeless. They can make an interior feel welcoming while carrying a wealth of emotion.
That is precisely why I enjoyed this painting so much. It almost painted itself. Each layer flowed naturally from the last, and I truly enjoyed the whole process. There are moments when you lose all sense of time and let yourself be guided only by colour, texture and your own intuition. These are exactly the moments that make me love my work so much.
For me, abstract painting is freedom. I never know exactly where the next brushstroke will take me. This makes every painting an original that can never be created in quite the same way again.
But this painting has also left me with another lovely memory. Before its new owner came to collect it, two different customers visited my studio. Both stopped in front of it and asked, in almost the same words, whether it was for sale. I had to tell them with a smile that it already had an owner. I admit that this made me immensely happy. It is a moment that reminds me that a painting can speak not only to the person it was created for, but to someone else entirely.
And that is the greatest reward for me.
When I hand over a painting, my work does not really end. Quite the opposite. A new story begins for the painting. It becomes part of its owner’s home, everyday life and memories.
Thank you so much for your trust. I believe it will bring joy for many years to come, and that every time its new owner looks at it, she will find something new.
