They say the eyes are the window to the soul. They often hold so many distinctive features that they can reveal someone’s identity without the rest of the face. It is no coincidence, then, that quizzes in which people identify famous faces by their eyes alone are so popular.

That gave me the idea of combining my art with a little game.

Every few days, I will share a detail of a famous person’s eyes, painted in my own style. Your task will be to guess whose eyes they are.

I will reveal the full painting and the correct answer only in the next post.

You may be surprised by how little we sometimes need to recognise someone.

Why the eyes?

When painting portraits, I spend the most time on the eyes.

They are where emotions begin. A gaze can tell a story before we notice any other details.

That is why I decided to begin with the eyes.
