What Remains

What Remains

Some places we visit only once, yet they stay with us forever.

The painting What Remains grew out of a memory of a place I visited for the first time this year, which left a deep impression on me. It is not about depicting reality precisely, but about the atmosphere, emotions and feeling we carry home and keep long after the journey ends.

As I painted, I let the work develop intuitively. Layers of colour, texture and light gradually came together to form a memory that is a little different for everyone.

I believe this painting will find an owner who discovers their own story within it. Perhaps a reminder of a place they love. Perhaps a dream of somewhere they have yet to visit.

Because some journeys end.

But what matters most remains.
