“Each painting is like a window into the world as I see it, where colours and shapes tell my story without boundaries.”
My name is Kristýna Smetanová. I am 33 years old and live in the small village of Tetín in the Central Bohemian Region. As a nurse, I found plenty of inspiration in everyday life. I began teaching myself to paint and draw in 2018. I started painting at home.
I now have my own studio, where I paint and welcome clients who take my work home with them. I began by drawing in pencil from photographs, later moving on to abstract painting in acrylics. Both are still part of my life today. They help me relax and escape from reality. At first, I thought it would simply be a hobby. But it grew into a passion and something I wanted to share with others. Paint and canvas became a home for my heart, even though I have never studied painting or drawing. Art has given me the gift of expressing myself and discovering a world of my own. It is not just a hobby, but a way to express myself and discover my own vision.
I am a mother of two young children, who are an endless source of inspiration to me. Their spontaneity, creativity and joy in life continually encourage me to look for beauty in everyday things.
Every painting I create is an original. I have never created two works that are identical or even alike. I never know in advance what will emerge on the canvas. So the result is always a surprise and a joy, even for me.
For me, each new day is like a blank canvas, ready for new stories and colourful adventures that bring me endless inspiration.
